Alyssa- Owner/Director of Great and Small Daycare

Alyssa will speak about the following aspects of Daycare today.

• a brief overview of Great and Small Daycare
• what it took to start a new daycare
• the state of child care in Alberta: waitlists, options, prices
• how daycare centres are funded

Speaker Bio:

 

Alyssa graduated from the University of Alberta with a Bachelor of Elementary Education degree in 2005.  After teaching in Northern Alberta, Alyssa relocated her family to Lethbridge and studied Sociology and Linguistics at the U of L.  Noticing that quality child care centers had lengthy waitlists, Alyssa began planning in February, and Great and Small Daycare opened in late August.  The center is licensed to care for 50 children, provides literacy programming, an inclusive atmosphere, and a multicultural menu.
