Inspector Tom Ascroft, Lethbridge Police Service

Speaker & Bio:

Tom Ascroft has been a member of the Lethbridge Service for 30 years. He worked in a variety of roles over the years before promotion to the rank of inspector in 2009. With his recent move to the Criminal Investigation Division, he has commanded all of the service’s divisions. Among many other things, his new role involves overseeing the drug and intelligence functions within the service.

Tom has a degree in Justice Studies and holds designations in Crisis Negotiation and Incident Command from the Canadian Police College. He is the father of three (mostly) grown daughters.

Topic:
Lethbridge, like many communities across Canada, suddenly found itself fully immersed in a street drug crisis approximately 2 years ago. The history of what happened, how it’s impacting our community, what’s being done to address it, and why we cannot simply arrest our way out of it will be discussed.
