Speaker bio: Dr. Reem Aboukhaddour received a bachelor degree in
Agricultural Science from Damascus University. In 2003, she completed a Master’s
degree in Crop Science from Wageningen University in the Netherlands. In 2008, Dr.
Aboukhaddour earned a PhD in Plant Science from the University of Manitoba.
Soon after, she joined the University of Alberta as postdoctoral fellow then as
a research associate for 8 years.
In 2016, Dr. Aboukhaddour joined AAFC, Lethbridge Research and Development Centre as a wheat pathologist-research scientist. Her research focuses on cereal diseases, mainly on wheat: stripe rust, leaf spot and other diseases including common bunt. Understanding pathogenicity evolution and pathogen biology, interaction with the host and disease management are the main aspects of Dr. Aboukhaddour’s research program.
