Kelly Weiers, together with his wife Danean Weiers, co-own Granite Rocks Ltd. The Weiers moved from Saskatchewan in Jan 2004. Kelly moved to Lethbridge to work for Braman Furniture as he is a finish carpenter by trade. In 2006, Kelly started Granite Rocks Countertops with his then partner Nathan Neudorf. They both saw the increase in demand for granite tops and saw an opportunity. In 2010 Kelly bought in as majority share of the company and took Granite Rocks Countertops to Granite Rocks Ltd. and started their own manufacturing plant. Up to then they were only installing counters supplied by Calgary manufacturers. It was always Kelly’s intent to manufacture but had to wait for the right time. Kelly and Danean started manufacturing in Lethbridge the summer of 2010 in their old facility on 18th Ave North. They quickly grew to capacity there but learned how to be very efficient with their space. The Weiers now have double the space in their new facility that you all will see, and they are almost stretching the limits there already. When Granite Rocks started in 2006, Kelly was the sole employee, and he pulled helpers in from the parent company, Integrity Builders. In 2010, when they started manufacturing they had 6 employees including Kelly’s wife and himself. Now they are at 14 staff, between installers, manufacturing team and office staff. Kelly and Danean are proud and excited of what they have accomplished so far and are excited to have the Breakfast Club come tour through their shop and see this as well.
